“The Churches of the Bexley Team Ministry join with the whole nation and commonwealth as we mourn His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. Prayers are being offered at this time, by clergy and congregations. St Mary’s Bexley will be open for Individual Prayer on Saturday 10 April between 10am and 3pm, where there will also be the opportunity to light a candle and sign a book of condolence. Condolence sheets will also be made available during Sunday services. Alternatively, you can sign an online condolence book available on the Church of England website: www.churchofengland.org/
You may wish to use the following prayers.
Blessed Jesus,
Lord of Lords and King of Kings,
we give you thanks
for the life of Philip, Duke of Edinburgh .
for the grace and mercy
he received from you,
for his faithful love and support
of Her Majesty, The Queen,
and his service to this nation
at home and abroad.
Enfold him in your everlasting arms
grant him rest
and raise him up at the last
in the company of the saints in light. Amen
We remember, too, the Royal Family in their bereavement.
O God, our sovereign and shepherd,
who brought again your Son, Jesus Christ,
from the valley of death,
comfort, we pray,
The Queen and all the Royal Family
with your protecting presence.
Fill them with your Holy Spirit;
and with your heavenly peace;
and bring them at the last
to your everlasting kingdom;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen

Normally you would expect to receive a letter or e-mail at this time of year setting out our programme for the months ahead. You will understand why this has not been possible. Depending of the Covid situation, the committee of the Friends is hoping to meet in March to draw up plans for the remainder of the year. We will be in touch with you as soon as possible thereafter. In the meantime we hope you are and will continue to be keeping well at this very difficult time.
With best wishes from Clive, Mary, Sheila, Barbara, Christine, Janet and Jenny (Friends Committee)
